We present our newborn located in the waiting room of the Services for Seniors program of the Orléans Health Hub! This is our FIRST project in Ontario. Measuring 27 square meters (300 square feet), our living wall representing a butterfly wing, the first of its kind in Canada, is so beautiful. We are so proud of this realization!
We are confident that this living wall will grow with a lot of love around it. It will be even nicer when the plants have reached their full growth. We are convinced that this living wall will be a valuable addition to the Orléans Health Hub scheduled to open its doors on June 24, and that all those who see it will appreciate not only its beauty but also the ability of nature to soothe.
Jeannine Lafrenière, Founder and President Emeritus of Forget For A Moment Foundation, is the project Instigator. The mural is a creation of Malaka Ackaoui and Antoine Crépeau from WAA Montréal Inc. The design and technical design of this living wall in the shape of the wing of a monarch butterfly were provided free of charge and dates back to June 10, 2015.
The steel butterfly wing was made by Acumen Visual Group. The blown glass bubbles were made by Jean-Simon Trottier, one of the most recognized glassblowers in the country. The wing and the bubbles were installed by Acumen Visual Group.
By an extraordinary coincidence, the final touch of the project was realized on June 10, 2021 by the firm Wallemi living walls exactly SIX YEARS to the day!
It was worth pursuing this long road to final realization.
OUR WARMEST THANKS to all involved in this project, amongst others Dr. Bernard Leduc, CEO of the Montfort Hospital; Mélanie Potvin, Project Manager of the Orléans Health Hub, and Caroline Roy-Egner, Strategic Planification, Transformation and Human Resources Vice-President at Montfort, who believed in this innovative project. Our warmest thanks also to all those who have been involved in the project since the very beginning and the ones who continue to financially support the Foundation!
